“It was a thoroughly enjoyable process, from casting the actors to designing the Cuddly critters, everyone on the Mighty Nice team brought their best to the table in helping make something memorable.”

A bedtime story.

When you’re eyes are beginning to close and your mind starts to drift away, a bedtime story can create some fantastic thoughts and images. Our sumo pandas, penguins and trampolining mop tops are soft and fluffy and cute. Like illustrations from Little Golden Books, we wanted to create a timeless design that felt like a childs imagination. Interaction with the scene, the wrinkles in the blankets, and realistic, beautiful lighting on the fur were all important in selling the magic of these characters.

“A Cuddly Goodnight” is a journey into an eccentric, fairytale world where our playful and engaging story inspires our young boy’s imagination. We see the story through the eyes of the young boy as we join in on the same fairytale ride. The young boy and viewer will be thrilled with that sense of satisfaction one derives from witnessing the impossible. Although imaginary, we wanted them to feel very real.

On the other hand, our Mother in the story is thrilled that her son’s soft sheets are making a comfortable bed for her child to go to sleep in. This project was realised through a delicate combination of location, live-action, talent, 3D character design and animation, stitched together with visual effects compositing.

Imagination is
the key.

For lighting we digitally capture the light from the live action scene, and process this data with our physically correct renderers. This ensures the characters really feel a part of the overall scene. Our final step in the pipeline is compositing, with the worlds best software, to go that extra step of integration and finishing.

and the most decent human beings you’ll probably ever meet…
