We created a spot highliting the achievements of up and coming female athletes to help promote Cracker Jack's limited edition 'Cracker Jill' branding.

It was exciting to see a brief using the up and coming Women's World Cup tournament to promote and celebrate achievements in women’s sports. The project was centred around content submitted by 9 finalists, who were competing to be illustrated and featured on the packaging.

We opted for a collage style piece to make use of all the photos and videos that were sent through. We applied a paper cutout style throughout to bring the whole piece together, combining motion graphics with cel animation in a handcrafted look.

Design stayed quite loose at the beginning and was more about layout, while we focused on solving the paper look across all photos, videos, and illustrations provided for consistency. Some of this was through image treatments and some through procedural items like paper edging.

The most enjoyable aspect was seeing the 2D animation starting to weave its way through the piece as it really started to feel cohesive then. As the athletes transform and start to stop motion I think it added the unexpected element and tied it into the Cracker Jill competition.

The real challenge with this project was in taking low-fi footage and very practically shot application interviews and building something that unifies the media, and tells a story through the sound. We are really happy with the result that shows off the real skills and amazing lives of these incredible athletes.
